I had the pleasure of meeting Julie thanks to another friend at LACMA. Though we did not see each other often, whenever we did it was always a pleasure to catch up and chat with her. She was always encouraging regarding my art and kind with any resources she could share. I remember one time, I went to a beautiful exhibition of Pakistani paintings (a rarity) here in Los Angeles. I did not know anyone there, then I saw her and sat with her, giddy with excitement to see this rare treat of art. I will never forget how she took me under her wing and made a point to introduce me to so many people there including the Pakistani Arts Council and others that could be helpful to an artist like myself. It was incredibly sweet and I don't think I could have even asked for that kind of lovely introduction, but she knew. She didn't need to wait for me to ask, she graciously made me feel at home and selflessly connected me to people. More than connections, it's that complete sweet kindness that I will never forget. May we all learn from her example and share that kind of love in all that we do.
